Flame & Flight: Neon Butterflies with Leticia Maldonado
Saturday, February 8, 2025, 11am - 6pm
Join neon artist Leticia Maldonado in the creative cocoon of the Museum of Neon Art Electric Lab to create your own neon butterfly. Leticia will guide students through each step of creating a neon artwork, from heating glass over fire, to working with a bending pattern, to wiring up a finished artwork. Students will leave class with their own handmade illuminated butterfly.

Leticia Maldonado (b.1980) was born in West Covina, California and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. She grew up surrounded by the bright, eye-catching signs atop famous casinos such as The Dunes, The Tropicana, The Flamingo, and The Stardust. For years, she has been mentored by neon artist Michael Flechtner, and has swiftly emerged as a rising star. Maldonado has been featured in two museum group exhibits, including She Bends: Women in Neon and Building Bridges. Maldonado's solo exhibition, The Storytellers, was recently on display at the Museum of Neon Art. She lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
