Hold on loosely while we keep it all together!
The paperclips we use today were designed in the nineteenth century, and are so useful that we haven’t found a reason to change them since. Perhaps this is a principle of excellent and reliable design. Sound familiar? (NEON!)
Join Joanne, MONA’s Electric Lab Manager, as she guides students through each step of creating a neon paperclip - from heating glass over fire, to working with a bending pattern, to wiring up a finished artwork. Three turns in a tube of glass is all you’ll need to properly secure a few sheets of paper. You’ll be fasten-ated as we celebrate the humble paperclip, a wondrous piece of compressed ingenuity.
Disclaimer: Clippy was not harmed in the making of this work.
