MONA Member’s Event: Elliott Hundley Open Studio

March 22nd, 6:30-8:30pm

Join fellow Museum of Neon Art members for exclusive access into Elliott Hundley’s Chinatown studio and home. Membership will be verified and members may bring one non-member guest. RSVP is required by March 20th. Verified members will receive the exact location and Chinatown visit recommendations via email after their membership is verified. Membership to MONA starts at $35 and can be purchased in advance of the event. Elliott Hundley’s studio is located in a former sewing factory and is filled with collections, artworks, and works in progress. The space also hosts rotating exhibitions by other artists.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Elliott Hundley (b. 1975 Greensboro, North Carolina) is a world-renowned artist known for his innovative approaches to collage and assemblage, he works across many mediums including neon, photography, sculpture, painting, furniture, and drawing. His intricate and multilayered works attend to the lives of objects and images and explore a diverse set of narrative and visual traditions.

His work is included in the permanent collections of many museums, such as the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; Istanbul Museum of Modern Art, Istanbul; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles; Broad Museum, Los Angeles; Louisiana Art Museum, Denmark; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Nasher Sculpture Center; Dallas; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; among others. He received his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence in 1997 and an MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2005.

He has had solo exhibitions at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; the Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus; the Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas. He was included in the 7th Moscow International Biennale of Contemporary Art, 2017 – 2018, and 5th Prospect New Orleans Triennial. He was the inaugural curator of Open House, a group exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles that featured works drawn from the permanent collection. Hundley is a recent recipient of a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Guggenheim Fellowship (2019).
