Light & Found: Found Objects and Neon Sculpture with M. Camille MacRae, 4/8/23
Saturday, April 8, 2023, 10am - 5pm
This one-day workshop combines the craft of neon sculpture with the serendipity of surrealist art practice. Instructor M. Camille MacRae will introduce students to the basics of bending glass tubes over fire in order to create both a collaborative and an individual project.
Exquisite Corpse
Each student will add their own bend to a single glass tube.
Found Objects: Just Add Neon
Students are encouraged to bring in an object that will be transformed into an assemblage using neon elements.
M. Camille MacRae is a Bay Area light artist working primarily with glass, gas and found objects. She creates neon sculptures and images that are influenced by current events, emotional turmoil and the universal desire to escape. The goal to gain bodily knowledge of the material is central to her practice in tandem with her desire to integrate digital methods. Her background is in industrial design and model building. She subscribes to the art as therapy model and is influenced by speculative fiction, commercial neon signage, and cultivating main character energy.
